Product Description

AL Color is based on a natural oil-wax-basis. Open pored and matt. AL-Color gets into the wood easily and deeply and makes the surface resistant to water, coke, wine, beer etc., according to DIN 68861. AL-Color is water-repellent, resistant to friction and dirt. It is based on natural oil and wax and of vegetable provenience. The natural waxes penetrate the wood and keep it supple and in good condition. The wood can breathe and keeps it´s natural moisture balance. Shrinking and swelling are reduced. This means for your stage floor, that in spite of the spotlights high temperatures it does not dry-out and therefore preserves its elasticity. That's why the standing annual rings do not break under high loads as for example stage trolleys or sceneries. When removing sticky tapes there are almost no splinters as the floor surface does not embrittle. Life cicle of the stage floor will be considerably prolonged, if it is treated twice a year with an undiluted oil.
Health and Environment
AL-Color contains no biozide or preservation substances. Biozides or preservation substances. The dry paint is completely harmless to people, animals or plants. It corresponds to DIN 53160 (saliva and perspiration authenticy) as well as EURO-standard EN 71(safety for toys). Test Certificates are available.
AL-Color shades
- anthracite
- black-covering
- colourless-transparent
Further shades on enquiry (all shades are matt).
As it is a transparent painting, the result is influenced by the natural colour of the wood. (with exception: black-covering)
Preparation of Wood
The wood surface has to be clean and dry (max. moisture content 20%). Existing old open-pored paintings have to be cleaned. Old coats of colour and varnish must be removed (AL-Color- paint - stripper, biodegradable).
Application
AL-Color anthracite is ready for use. For first or maintenance coat do not dilute. AL-Color black covering diluted 1:5 only with AL-Color thinner. Stir well!
On old floors which were treated differently a trial coating should be made!
AL-Color first coatings:
we recommend to apply the paint thin with a surface brush or a paint roler, surplus paint to be removed with a dry roller. An extremely thin layer of oil is to be applied as it should soak into the wood and not stay on the surface. Surplus oil does not dry and causes the floor to shine and and creak when walking on it. On a polished floor the amount of paint needed is max. 0,125 litre/m² for two coatings.
After approx. 12 hrs. the second coating can applied. With older floors the amount of oil needed will be higher. AL-Color drys after 12 hrs. and can then be walked-on.
It is dust dry after 6 hrs. Thorough airing should be provided!
AL-Color - maintenance coat:
apply trial coat! For continued best results apply maintenance coat twice a year. With longer maintenance intervals the positive effects of the oil will decrease.
AL-Color - brighten-up coat:
Trial painting! AL-Color to be diluted with AL-Color- thinner at a ratio of 1:5 The purpose of a brighten-up coating is merely a colour improvement of the floor, it does not replace a maintenance coating. With diluting a faster drying process is achieved.
Maintenance
The floor painted with AL-Color is easy to handle and almost care-free. For the day-to-day cleaning the floor has just to be swept and, if necessary, wiped with a slightly damp cloth. If stronger signs of wear are showing a maintenance coating should be applied or possibly a wipe should be given with a cloth lightly dipped into AL-Color, cleaned-up and simply allow to dry.
Room Temperature
Maintenance-of-value and load-bearing capacity depends on climatic conditions in the stage room. Only a regulated room temperature (approx. 20°C)with a relative humidity (approx. 55,0%) guarantees best preservation of the floor. If these values, especially the relative humidity, are undercut, the wood dries out, splinters, brittles and is not able to cope with the high demands of the stage field. Furthermore, noticeable gaps will show.
Time Limit for Use
AL-Color is usable for at least five years if kept in a closed container.
